Types of Business Loans:

Term Loan

Term loan is a loan that is required to be repaid in regular payments over a set period of time. The term loan is categorized into short-term, intermediate-term and long-term loans. The repayment tenure of these two types ranges between 12 months to 5 years. Term loans that are of a shorter duration which is of 12 months are called short-term loans and loans up to 5 years or more are long-term loans. The collateral-free business loans are offered up to Rs. 2 crore, also can exceed depending upon business requirements. The repayment tenure for a term loan is finalized by the lender at the time of loan application.

Overdraft Facility

An Overdraft (OD) is a credit facility which lets a borrower to borrow money from the bank, even if their Savings or Current Accounts do not have funds. As it refers to an extension of a monetary limit which is given by banks, the money which is withdrawn is actually “overdrawn”. Through this facility, you can avail a certain limit of funds that varies from bank to bank and depends on the customer’s relationship with any bank. In exchange for this facility, which is essentially like a loan, banks charge you interest, but only to the extent of the funds you utilize, out of the total amount permitted.

Working Capital Loan

Working Capital Loan is one that is availed of to fund the day-to-day operations of a business, ranging from payment of employees’ wages to covering accounts payable. Not all businesses see regular sales or revenue throughout the year, and sometimes the need for capital to keep the operations going may arise. This is usually the case with companies that have seasonal business cycles or cyclical sales, while some other may require such a loan during festive seasons or periods of reduced business activity. Such loans may be secured or unsecured, that is, you may or may not be required to pledge a collateral to avail of the loan, depending on the loan amount and the business’ financial health. A company’s working capital is also a reflection of its financial health and liquidity position.
